In XA server versions 4.11.2 or newer, the ProxCard Administrator utility was changed so that it needed to have permission explicitly granted in XA before a user could run it. This was to control and give only authorized administrative users access to the executable since it has the ability to directly alter the ProxCard database. The Secure Version references this change.
Secure Version
XA
In order to use the ProxCard Administrator in it's more secure form, you will need to have the XA Client installed and XAUCM.exe running on any machine that is going to run the ProxCard Administrator.
To add the ProxCard Admin Tool to an XA Client:
-
Log into your XA Server.
-
Open the File Explorer and navigate to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\HealthCast\eXactACCESS\ -
Locate the following 3 files and copy them to a location that they can be accessed from.
XARFIdeasAdmin.exeXARFIdeasAdmin.exe.iniXARFIdeasAdmin.exe.xml
-
Copy the files from Step 3 to the file path on the XA Client:
C:\Program Files (x86)\HealthCast\eXactACCESS\- Note: The files do not have to be put in this exact location, this is merely for example purposes. As long as the 3 files are in the same directory together, the tool will function.
-
Test the implementation by running the xaRFIdeasAdmin.exe and verify that it can access badge-to-user information correctly.

Citrix
In Citrix, the secure version would take the form of publishing showxadesktop.exe from the Citrix Storefront and have the xaRFIdeasAdmin.exe as an auto-launch task within XA.
The same files from above in XA - Step 3 will be required. These do not have to be copied to the same file path, but must all at least be in the same directory.
Standalone Version
The standalone version does not require the XA Client. This version of the tool has been extracted from an older version of XA before the permission requirements were added.
Download:
xaRFIdeasAdmin-standalone.zip
To install and use the standalone version:
-
Download, unblock, and extract the .zip file containing the .exe and its supplementary files.
-
Open the registry file in the folder called
xaRFIdeasAdmin.reg.- Underneath
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HealthCast\ProxCardClient\Indy, change the value for "0000" to the name of your XA server or VIP, instead of the "xa01" placeholder value that is in there. - Merge the registry file to the computer that will host the ProxCard Admin Tool.
- Underneath
-
Copy the other 3 files from the extracted folder to
C:\Program Files (x86)\HealthCast\eXactACCESS\.XARFIdeasAdmin.exeXARFIdeasAdmin.exe.iniXARFIdeasAdmin.exe.xml
-
Test the implementation by running the xaRFIdeasAdmin.exe and verify that it can access badge-to-user information correctly.
Additional Information
If you copy the files into the XA Client's install path, it's worth noting that these files–because they are not native to the XA Client software–do not get removed during an uninstallation. Therefore, they will need to be deleted manually (especially if using the standalone version to avoid unwarranted access to proxcard data).
