System & Software Requirements

Prev Next

Before installation of Lynx, your system must meet all requirements.

Operating System

The Lynx server can be installed on a physical or virtual machine and is supported by the following versions:

  • Windows Server 2022
  • Windows Server 2019
  • Windows Server 2016

System Requirements

  • Domain-joined to the Active Directory that contains the users that will use the solution

  • Microsoft .Net 4.6.1 or greater

  • Valid SSL certificate

    • The certificate can be issued by a public certificate authority (e.g. Verisign, GoDaddy, DigiCert, etc) or an internal authority
    • The certificate must have the Fully Qualified Domain Name as the subject field
    • On your Lynx server, ensure the SSL certificate is installed to the Local Computer > Personal certificate store
  • Lynx License key

    • Note: This is available from Identity Automation – please contact your account representative

Lynx with eXactAccess (XA)

If using Lynx with XA, Lynx must be installed on the same computer as XA Server. This is because Lynx will use the encryption components that the XA Server provides to read and write encrypted data in the database.

Minimum XA Server Version

With Lynx Server 1.5 or newer, it can only work with a database that has been upgraded for XA 4.11.2 for the expanded encryption schemes.

Additionally, you must use a Microsoft SQL Server instance because it is required by the XA Server. See the section below for more info.

If you are using XA 4.11.1 or older, use Lynx 1.4, but we recommend that you look into getting your environment upgraded to the newer XA 4.14.x and Lynx 1.7.x.

SQL Server

A SQL server is optional as the Lynx solution can use either the built-in Lynx database or the eXactAccess proxcard database. If you are using SQL Server, it can be installed on the same machine as the Lynx Server software or on a separate machine.

ℹ️ For enterprise deployments, it's recommended to use a high availability edition of SQL Server.

Supported Microsoft SQL Servers

  • 2022
  • 2019
  • 2017
  • 2016

SQL Database User Credentials

You must have the username and password of a domain user that can read and write to the database, if you will be configuring Lynx to use a SQL Server instance.

⚠️ IMPORTANT

You must set the password for this user to never expire, and you must not restrict the logon hours of this user.
