The Lynx database offers data encryption and decryption. This capability is available and ready upon installation. In the case where you might have more than one Lynx server pointing to the same database, you will need to export the encryption key from the one server instance so that you can import it on the other one.

Export the Encryption Key File

  1. Click Export.

  2. Create and enter a password for the file.

    ⚠️ Keep track of this password, as you will need it to import the file.
  3. Click OK. The file will be downloaded to your machine's default download folder.

NOTE

You will not be able to import this file into the XA server, nor will you be able to import a file that came from the XA server.


Import the Encryption Key File

ℹ️ Note

This process does not work with key encryption files from an XA server and the XA server will not accept Lynx encryption files.

  1. Click Import.

  2. Enter the password created for the key in the export process.

  3. Click the Choose File button to select the text file containing the encrypted database key.

  4. Click Upload.
