What is QwickAccess for IGEL?

QwickAccess for IGEL provides users with fast and secure access to their Citrix or Citrix-hosted Epic Hyperdrive* session with the tap of a badge* on an IGEL endpoint device. This can be the same badge that is used for building access or identification purposes. QwickAccess for IGEL is designed to eliminate the tedious redundancy of manually entering a username and password to gain access to a Citrix session or Citrix-hosted Epic Hyperdrive session.

Does QwickAccess for IGEL only support Citrix?

Yes, QwickAccess for IGEL version 1.3.0 only supports Citrix.

Can I use QwickAccess for IGEL along with ExactAccess or another ESSO solution?

Yes. QwickAccess is installed on IGEL endpoints and provides fast and secure access to Citrix or Citrix-hosted Epic Hyperdrive sessions. Within the Citrix session, however, you could run an ESSO solution such as ExactAccess to provide single sign-on capabilities.

What happens if a user forgets their badge?

A user who forgets their badge at home can enroll a temporary replacement badge provided by the organization and use that for the day. The temporary badge replaces the original badge which means the original badge cannot be used until it is re-enrolled. This is a security feature. The next day when the user returns with their original badge they simply enroll it again and the temporary badge is no longer enrolled (it is replaced by the original badge) and therefore can be assigned to a different user who has forgotten their badge.

In addition, a user who does not have their badge or chooses not to use it can always log in manually by typing in their username and password. But you can also turn this off if you want to ensure that user’s always user their badge to login.

What should a user do if someone else has left their session open?

If a user has walked away from the endpoint and forgotten to tap to lock their session, and a second user approaches that same endpoint, all the second user needs to do is tap their own badge. This will secure the first user’s work and then automatically log the second user in so they can start their own work.

Can a user log in without their badge?

Yes, a user can log in without a badge. But you can configure QwickAccess for IGEL so that users must use their badge to log in.

How do I shut down QwickAccess for IGEL?

By default, QwickAccess for IGEL is configured so that if you press Alt+Q while either the “TAP YOUR BADGE” or the Privacy Screen are showing then QwickAccess for IGEL will shut down. However, you can turn this off if desired (see the QuitKeyEnabled setting).

Where are the QwickAccess for IGEL log files located?

The log files are located at /var/logs/qax on IGEL endpoints.

* Badge or other RFID device

This documentation uses the word “badge”, meaning an RFID-enabled identification badge that is assigned to a user, because that is what most organizations will employ. However, QwickAccess for IGEL also supports other RFID proximity devices such as key fobs, wristbands, and cards.

* Epic Hyperdrive

Epic Hyperdrive is an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) app offered by Epic Systems.
