APPLIES TO
- eXactACCESS Server 4.x
- Windows Server 2016, 2019
PROBLEM / STEPS to REPRODUCE
As part of the XA Server configuration, a domain needs to be selected. After making the domain selection, the following error is seen:
hciserverconfigure: Access is denied
You may also see an error like the following:
hciserverconfigure: Unable to retrieve users’ data (necessary to determine the domain SID) from the "\\DCServerName" on the "DomainName" domain. This user account may not be trusted by the server. ERROR_LOGON_FAILURE
ROOT CAUSE
The root cause of this issue is an inability of the hciserverconfiguration utility to query the domain information properly (a bug has been logged for this).
RESOLUTION
Until a product resolution is provided, the Directory Service must be configured manually. These steps are documented in Manual Configuration.
